Vidarbha Region has tremendous potential to become an Ideal State of the country, if all its resources are properly channelised through good governance. MIA President, Shri Mayank Shukla stated. Today, this region is neglected and has to pay heavy prize in terms of development and thus Vidarbha Region has become an idle region. Shri Shukla further stated Vidarbha region has mineral resources, location wise Nagpur is the heart of country and historic zero milestone of the country is in Nagpur, still we are not able to take logistic advantage of this region. MIHAN a dream project to develop not only Nagpur but entire Vidarbha region is moving ahead at a snail’s speed; Mr. Shukla further lamented. Vidarbha region is enriched with Wild Life and Natural beauty but yet Tourism promotion in Vidarbha is big zero.
Vidarbha region generates 40% of power required by the entire state Maharashtra all the power plants are thermal and coal based in this area and this generation is done at the cost of environment and health of residents of this area, yet no differential tariff is offered to Vidarbhites, which beats the region’s industrialists in competition in comparison to other neighbouring states. How can we expect development of Vidarbha unless we have a separate state; fumed MIA Secretary, Capt. Randhir.
Skilled labour is the basic need of any Industry, we train the labour as per requirement but as soon as they achieve the ability they migrate to either neighbouring adjoining state or in another region of state where they have better potential in tenns of opportunities in number of industries. This is a very peculiar case in electric machines and auto parts manufacturing units, Shri Shekhar Bendre, treasurer of MIA pointed out industries in this area has just become a training centre to supply skilled labour, Shri Bendre expressed his displeasure.
Separate Vidarbha is not a new thought but the demand is as old as sixty years. In 1956, when Bombay State was bifurcated in Maharashtra and Gujrat, and Vidarbha region was merged with Maharashtra, then local leaders, Late Shri Loknayak Bapuji Ane and Late Shri Biyaniji had a wise vision and had apprehension that Vidarbha will be isolated in terms of Development their vigorous movement at that time was suppressed and otherwise the peace loving people of Vidarbha waited for an appropriate time, which is now very much ripe. Shri Shukla concluded.
