MIDC Industries Association (MIA) recently met and welcomed the VAT commissioner Shri Nitin Kerrir during his recent maiden visit to Nagpur. MIA appreciated that the current VAT Commissioner has shown the interest in the working of Sales Tax Department of this region in the State. This is after a gap of more than five years that the state head of VAT Tax department has visited this region, which is a major revenue generator of the state. Not only this he gave a patient hearing to the problems of various associations of trade, industries and Tax consultants individually and assured to resolve them in the best possible manner.
A representation on behalf of MIA was presented to Shri Nitin Kerrir, by it’s President Shri Mayank Shukla. Going through the various issues raised by the association, the Commissioner assured that the delay in issuing ‘C’ Forms will be reserved in a month or two. The dealer can download the same online within 24 hours by this time. On the issue of slapping “Police Prosecution Notice” along with ‘603’ Notice will be an action as last resort and this practice will be immediately stopped. Granting of installments to repay the outstanding old tax dues will be reviewed on case to case basis provided the dealer makes regular payment of current returns. On the issue of late VAT refund, the Commissioner said the problem is because of mismatch problems. The department is working on this issue and VAT refund will be made faster in due course of time. The other issues, the representation included were pertaining to increase in present Professional Tax limit of ₹ 5000/- to ₹ 25000/- and increasing VAT Audit limit from Sixty Lacs to One Crore in tune with Income Tax audit limit. Since these problems are pertaining to policy matter they will be taken up at on appropriate level.
